Victorian Mahogany Cased Francis Barker Pocket Compass
Unsigned Francis Barker Victorian mahogany cased round pocket compass believed to be circa 1860’s. It measures 10 cm diameter x 2 cm deep. The compass is set in a round mahogany case. It has it’s original sunburst dial which is divided into four 90 degree quarters and displays 32 cardinals and inter cardinal points. Dated circa 1860’s it has it’s original glass crystal which is retained by a brass bezel and a blue steel needle clearly impressed with N and S gold letters. There is a small old repair on the lid by the hinge but does not detract from the very good condition. The lid fastens with two elegant 7 shaped brass clasps
